Captain Rich went back for some inshore yellowfin with Jimmy and Steve Wednesday night after having 2 nice fish last week on the night chunk. Things started off a little slow with trying to get live squid.. They manged to get some bait and sent them down.
Around 1:AM they were hooked up to what they thought was a brown shark with a cobia following him to the boat, then when they got him close to the boat they knew they had a big cobia on the line. Capt. Rich hit him with a gaff shot but the fish was able to pull out of it bending the gaff hook, Capt. Rich got a second shot and the fish went nuts. It took two of them to get him in the boat.
After having the fish weighed on a certified scale he topped out at 82lbs...just 5 pounds short of the state record.

Congratulations to Matthew Ruggiero, age 7, for his fine catch of this smooth puffer fish! Young Matthew was fishing with his mom, dad and older brother Nico this past Wednesday, July 18 on their boat “Hook’m & Book’m”.
The
One of the largest flounder ever caught "other than boat" in the state may have been in Absecon Inlet on Sunday afternoon. Phil Todd was urged by his 10-year-old son, Phil "P.J." Todd, to take him on a Father's Day fishing outing.
